Technology has become a huge part of the classroom but, unfortunately, it is not always used effectively. Schools, districts, and even countries all seem to be “recreating the wheel” - implementing mobile deployments and making the same mistakes as others. More “cross-pollination” and sharing of best practices is essential for school districts to create a learning initiative that leads to success.

iSchool Initiative and Cisco have partnered to host the iSi Leadership Event. This event is focused on assisting districts to move to a successful 1:1 or BYOD technology program. This program is designed for principals, superintendents, IT staff, instructional faculty, CTO’s, and anyone else interested in maximizing your organization’s technology potential.

Attendees will hear from thought leaders in the space and also have a chance to collaborate and share best practices with their peers.

Becoming a Lifelong Learner

Take a journey with college student, Travis Allen, and learn what it means to be a lifelong learner. This concept has an entirely new definition in today's Information Age and it requires us to create new skills while at the same time, embracing our inner student. Discover how schools, teachers, and the students themselves unintentionally obstruct their own path for the best possible education. And, most importantly, learn how to cultivate the right environment to break past these barriers.

Escape the bus - Discover the Keys to Lifelong Learning!

You have 30 minutes to find all the clues hidden inside the “mobile classroom on wheels”! You will have to work as a team in order to go through each station and solve the problem to discover the secrets of lifelong learning. In the process of finding clues you will learn about new technology to use in the classroom, the importance of student voice, and the history of iSchool Initiative! Most of all, you will have fun!

Top 10 Barriers to Mobile Technology in the Classroom

There have been many consistent challenges that schools face as they move towards a 1:1 or BYOD environment. It takes more than just putting tablets in the classroom to create a successful learning environment. You have to build the right infrastructure, create a solid vision, and most importantly, create the right culture. In this session, we will discuss best practices and how to overcome some of the biggest barriers in your mobile deployment.

Lunch and Discussion - Lunch will be provided.
