Keynote - Are Students Getting Worse at Problem-Solving?
We have to ask questions in today’s classroom that can’t be googled. Why? Because any question that can, requires no critical thinking or problem solving skills to solve. Join Travis Allen as he paints a vision for what learning could look like when students are challenged to find their own problems to solve and take ownership of their learning.
Technology Innovation - Cisco Escape Experience
In this experience we won't just talk about what active learning should look like - we will actually role model the 4 C's: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. You will be working in teams and competing against other attendees to be the first to "escape". You will leave with ideas on how to develop problem solvers in your district, design engaging professional learning activities, and learn about innovative ed-tech solutions. The District with the highest score of the day, will win a free day with our Escape the Bus! ($5,000+ value)
District Prize - Escape the Bus
Join us to explore the concepts of gamified problem-based learning via our Escape the Bus experience! Participants will work as a team in order to go through each station and solve a problem to discover the secrets of lifelong learning. In the process of finding clues, participants will learn about new technology to use in the classroom, the importance of student voice, and the history of iSchool Initiative! Most of all, you will have fun!
