Our team is a fusion of contemporary professionals with decades of experience teaching, and millennial students with a passion for learning.
In 2009, high school student Travis Allen decided to use his iPhone for reference in class. He was met with stern resistance from his teachers and had the mobile device collected while he was using it to take notes.
In that moment, Travis realized that educators could learn something valuable from students in regards to mobile technology. This event ignited a passion for education reform that has driven iSchool Initiative ever since.
We became advocates for education reform - eager to share our vision with anyone willing to listen.
We realized that in order to gain any traction and support for our initiative we would have to show people why it's so vital. We started by giving presentations at any venue that would allow us to speak. We became advocates for education reform - eager to share our vision with anyone willing to listen. Eventually, people started taking notice. This marked the beginning of a massive movement we call the Digital Learning Revolution - of which, we're happy to say, we're now only a small part.
We initially founded iSchool Initiative as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. However, in order to change even a single school we needed more resources, so we later expanded into a hybrid company structure with nonprofit and for-profit branches working together as one.
